SKOPJE FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMME

Fellowship Programme – foreign publishers, festival directors and programme managers, literary agents and scouts – to visit Macedonia

As of 2014, the festival shall follow the trends of the world literary festivals through the introduction of a Fellowship Programme dedicated to the foreign publishers, festival directors and programme managers, literary agents and scouts. Such and similar fellowship programmes are part of a number of European Festivals.

The objective of the Fellowship Programme is to familiarize the stakeholders of the prominent festivals and the world of publishers with the Macedonian literary scene, which, we hope, would result in new translations, visits of Macedonian writers abroad, promotion of the Macedonian and Balkan literature, networking of writers and cultural workers in the area of publishing and literature with their European and worldwide colleagues, increasing the interest for the Macedonian literature abroad…

Anne Louise Fisher

Anne Louise Fisher. I began my career in publishing working in magazines but moved soon to Penguin where I helped set up their Rights Department. From there I went to a small independent
publisher, Andre Deutsch as Rights Manager before joining the agent, Gillon Aitken. In 1983 I was approached by a group of four Scandianvian publishers and asked to become their scout and I now represent fourteen publishers including Doubleday and Nan Talese in the US, Random House of Canada in Canada, Laffont in France, C. Bertelsmann, Knaus, Blanvalet, DVA, Siedler and C. Bertelsmann Jugenbuch in Germany, Arnoldo Mondadori Editore, Oscar and Mondadori Ragazzi in Italy, Albert Bonniers in Sweden, Otava in Finland, Gyldendal Norsk in Norway, Gyldendal in Denmark,
Penguin Random including Plaza & Janes, Grijalbo, Mondadori, Lumen, Debate and Montena in Spain, Nova Fronteira and Agir in Brazil, Patakis in Greece, Libri Kiado in Hungary, Yapi Kredi Publishing in Turkey and one film company Heyday.

Susan Curtis-Kojakovic

Susan Curtis-Kojakovic set up Istros Books - an independent publisher of literature in translation from SE Europe, at the end of 2010. Since then, the company has gone to publish some of the best names in regional literature, with a team of expert translators. Susan graduated in English & Art from Roehampton University, and also holds an MA in Education. She has worked as a refugee worker and
a teacher for many years, and occasionally also translates from Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian.

Lucien Leitess
